Can I teach an online course while on the Institute?

• You must commit to working full-time on Institute activities for these four weeks as your sole formal occupation/activity. Online (or other) teaching or compensated activities are not allowed. Failure to do so may result in loss of your place, and forfeiture of your stipend.

Can I bring my family/ companion?

• You must commit to working full-time on Institute activities for these four weeks. Some activities take place in the evenings and/or involve excursions outside of the city. Remember that non-participants are not allowed at any Institute events or functions with the exception of our opening reception. In the past Participants have come with family and children, but we cannot assist or make any recommendations regarding childcare. We can only arrange for single-occupancy accommodation. Absolutely no "doubling up" is permitted, and may result in removal from Barcelona Resident and loss of any accommodation payment.

Can I travel during the Institute?

• You must commit to working full-time on Institute activities for these four weeks and be present for ALL events. On days that there are programmed Institute activities you must be present and participate. Failure to do so may result in loss of your place, and forfeiture of your stipend.

What are the expectations regarding participation?

• Participants must agree to complete all work, including preparation (readings), active participation in seminars, attendance of all events and must observe the NEH Principles of Civility. Failure to do so may result in loss of your place, and forfeiture of your stipend.
