9:30AM- Registration: please arrive promptly, coffee will be served

10:00AM- Orientation: an introduction to the program and to Barcelona (Sharon Kinoshita & Brian Catlos)

10:45AM- Coffee Break

11:00AM- "Thinking Mediterranean." What are the uses (and abuses) of "Mediterranean" as a category of Analysis? What might it mean to "think Mediterranean" in fields such as literature and history? (Sharon Kinoshita)

11:45 AM-  "Ethno-Religious Diversity in the Medieval Mediterranean: An Historical Introduction" (Brian Catlos)

12:30AM- Coffee Break

12:45PM- Introduction to the CSIC & Local organizers and scholars (feat.: Roser Salicrú i Lluch & Marta Manso Rubio)

1:45- Break for Lunch (not provided)

3:30PM- Historical Barcelona - Introduction & Walking Tour (Prof. Phil Banks): please arrive promptly - be prepared to walk for two hours in the city (sensible shoes, sun screen, hat, water bottle...) to 6pm

7:30PM- Opening Reception to be held at
